AIN’T TOO PROUD TO BEGFriends of DeKalb Animals is in need or additional support this month for the animals in our care! In the last three months our vet bills have topped $20,000 and are still climbing. We have amazing supporters that give from the heart each month and we hate to ask for more but when it comes to saving these babies and many more, WE AIN’T TOO PROUD TO BEG! In addition to the vetting charges that we incur each month for healthy animals, 10 of 13 puppies in 2 litters that we pulled to foster and transport had to be hospitalized for canine parvovirus. We also pulled one adult dog that broke with parvovirus as well. Sadly, the adult girl and one of our puppies did not make it and we still have one puppy at the vet now fighting for her life after 6 days in ICU. In the last 3 months we have also treated 12 dogs for heartworms, 3 puppies for ringworm and upper respiratory and multiple cases of kennel cough. One of our older puppies required surgery for bilateral entropion and we are facing the possibility of surgery for another tiny girl for luxating patellas in her knees. Last but not least, we received sad and frustrating news today for Roo, our long term foster girl who suffered a lifetime of abuse before coming to FODA. She is facing yet another surgery tomorrow for her remaining mangled front leg . Comments are closed. |
